The Daniel Newcomb Chapter NSDAR members are very invested in the educational mission of the NSDAR.

Our chapter has taken part in evaluating scholarships and youth award essays.

Previous chapter educational outings included:

  • A tour of Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota, with a presentation on the history and evolution of the college.
  • A tour of the Oscar Howe Gallery in Old Main at the University of South Dakota campus. We learned about the life of the Native American artist, Oscar Howe, and the breadth of his artwork. We learned of his local works which include panels on the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota, murals in the former library in Mitchell, South Dakota, and his artwork in Mobridge, South Dakota. We were also shown other examples of his artwork at the national level.
  • Attended the naturalization ceremony in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to watch as 44 people became new citizens.

Our chapter is always interested in furthering education for all; children, young adults, and our chapter members.
