The Daniel Newcomb Chapter NSDAR members have a passionate interest in historic preservation. Our members have toured and made financial contributions to historic society homes in Clay, Union and Yankton counties.

Our members have visited the Mead Building, which was formerly the Administration Building for the South Dakota State Hospital, during its ongoing renovation. We have provided financial contributions to the Mead Building, the Yankton County Historical Society Museum and other sites in our localities.

We were given a tour of the Fort Randall grounds and cemetery near the Fort Randall Dam at Pickstown, South Dakota, from an archaelogical point of view. One of our members has participated as a member of several of the archealogical teams.

Our chapter is always looking for opportunities to visit and provide assistance as we observe the preservation of historical sites.
